Day trips. PAESTUM, VELIA, ROCCA GLORIOSA, Moio della CIVITELLA are some of the archeological sites that are reachable in a short time from Palinuro. The Certosa di Padula, La Madonna del Monte, Le Grotte di Pertosa and several areas in the national park, including Monte Cervati, Línghiottitoio del Bussento (Caselle in Pittari) and other areas of natural beauty, such as the WWF nature reserve del Sele, can all be visited in the course of a day-long excursion.

In the immediate vicinity of Palinuro there are cycling and walking routes that provide short trips in peaceful surroundings, through lush pine woods or along unspoiled rivers, with panoramic views and breathtaking scenery. You may choose to wander along the tracks of the headland which lead to the lighthouse, the Bourbon fort or the Saracen towers which date from the 7th century.
Or take the path to the top of the “Molpa”, where, in addition to enjoying a magnificent view, you can walk among the remains of a prehistoric settlement or the ruins of a castle. A fine outing, up the dramatic valley/canyon carved over millions of years by the Mingardo river, will take you to the abandoned, but largely intact medieval village of San Severino. And, only a stone’s throw from the church square in the San Paulo area, on a sandy hill overlooking the village, you can finish your walk through the remains of the first Greco-Roman settlement in Palinuro (4th-5th century B.C.).
